Optical imaging is used in many industries, including bio-medical, microscopy and lithography. The challenge is how to accurately resolve images with smaller than wavelength features, i.e. achieving super-resolution. Current solutions face many technological and economical challenges. This solution is based on the principle of single interface lensing. The device is composed of a thin piece of a double-negative medium placed directly on top of a detection apparatus. The device acts as a near-field camera as it is brought into proximity of a sample to be imaged. Through this method, resolution is not affected by wavelength.
