Highlights
-
Current methods for retargeting images, i.e. accurately reproducing the images for viewing on different sized monitors or screens, often results in distortion of the image or loss of important features.
-
This new method, called Feedback Retargeting, performs better than simple scaling or cropping while avoiding these drawbacks.
Our Innovation
Novel algorithm that preserves important features and qualities of an image during retargeting and avoids loss or distortion during scaling or cropping. Feedback Retargeting produces a superior retargeting of the image without blurring or distortions.
The images below show the original image and compares the results of resizing the image using Feedback Retargeting with two other methods.
Key Features
-
Performs retargeting, or scale change in a single step, with no need for repetitive small changes
The Opportunity
This technology can be employed in any situation where images are viewed on screens of different sizes, for instance viewing pictures on various mobile devices.
